You should let your doctor know if your asthma symptoms worsen. You should visit your doctor or pharmacist regularly to check that you are using your VENTOLIN puffer in the right way. If you are not breathing the medicine in correctly, the medicine may not be helping you as much as it could. Your doctor may tell you to take extra puffs of your VENTOLIN puffer if your chest condition suddenly gets worse. If you take extra puffs and do not get relief, tell your doctor immediately.

The medicine is the same, and patients should continue to use it in accordance with the label instructions. If this happens, stop using VENTOLIN HFA and call your healthcare provider or get emergency help right away. Paradoxical bronchospasm is more likely to happen with your first use of a new canister of medicine. Get medical help right away if your symptoms get worse or if you need to use your inhaler more often. Increase your dose or take extra doses of VENTOLIN HFA without first talking to your healthcare provider.

Like all other medicines, your VENTOLIN puffer may cause some side effects. Most of the side effects will be minor and temporary, but some may be serious. Your doctor or pharmacist will be able to answer any questions you may have.

It may be better for you to use something called a spacer device with your VENTOLIN puffer. Your doctor or pharmacist will explain what this is and how to use it. This medicine is only one part of a general plan to help you manage your asthma or other chest condition. Sometimes new risks are found even when a medicine has been used for many years. Women should be advised to contact their physicians if they become pregnant while taking salbutamol. CFCs are used as propellants to move the albuterol medicine out of the inhaler so patients can breathe the medicine into their lungs. The albuterol and levalbuterol HFA inhalers have a different propellant called hydrofluoroalkane . Albuterol HFA and albuterol CFC inhalers may taste and feel different.

Ventolin CFC-Free Inhaler presentation should not be used for threatened abortion during the first or second trimester of pregnancy. It should be used with care in patients known to have received large doses of other sympathomimetic drugs. If you don't have spasms, it will have no effect on the airways but potential side effects include a racing heart beat and feeling very shaky. Intravenous salbutamol is contra-indicated in cases of ante-partum haemorrhage because of the risk of further haemorrhage from an atonic uterus and there is the risk of the same problem arising inadvertently in asthmatics using salbutamol. Profuse uterine bleeding following spontaneous abortion has been reported after the use of salbutamol. As salbutamol is probably secreted in breast milk, its use in nursing mothers is not recommended unless the expected benefit to the mother is greater than any possible risk to the infant.
